    When to use this tool

    Shipping a PDF report and want the raw data along with it? Embed the source CSV inside. Sending a contract and a license file together? Embed the license. Recipients open the PDF normally; the attachments are tucked inside.

    How to attach a file to a PDF

    1. Drop one PDF. Multiple PDFs in batch: every file gets the same attachments.
    2. Pick the files to embed in the file picker. You can pick more than one.
    3. Click "Embed & download". Output is name-with-attachments.pdf.

    Can every viewer see the attachments?

    Adobe Reader / Acrobat show them in the Attachments panel. Some browser PDF viewers ignore attachments — recipients may need a desktop reader.

    How big can attachments be?

    Limited only by your browser's memory. Attachments are not compressed; the output PDF grows by roughly the sum of attachment sizes.

    Are my files uploaded?

    Never — embedding happens entirely in your browser via pdf-lib. See the privacy policy.

    Which readers actually show the attachments?

    Acrobat, Foxit, Preview on macOS and most desktop readers show an attachments or paperclip panel. Browser viewers are the weak spot — Chrome's built-in PDF viewer does not surface them at all, which is why Extract attachments exists.

    Can I build a Factur-X / ZUGFeRD e-invoice with this?

    You can embed the XML, which is the mechanical part. Full compliance also needs PDF/A-3 conformance and specific XMP metadata, which this tool does not write — treat the output as an ordinary PDF carrying an XML file, not as a certified e-invoice.

    Does attaching a file change how the PDF looks?

    No. The pages are untouched; the file is added to the document's embedded-files structure. The only visible change is a paperclip icon in readers that show one.

    Can I attach a second PDF?

    Yes, any file type. If your goal is one continuous document rather than a carried file, Merge PDFs or Insert pages is what you want instead.
